Wheel Alignment Measurement Procedure

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Alignment Computer (V.A.G 1813) or VW-/Audi-approved alignment equipment

Brake Pedal Actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)

Insert Tool (T10179)

Socket XZN 18 (T10001)

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) Steering Wheel Scales (VAS 6458)

Overview

Vehicle must only be measured at curb weight => Wheel Alignment Test Prerequisites.

Observe the following Work Sequence!

1 Drive the vehicle onto the alignment rack without tension. Move the vehicle back and forth if necessary to relieve any tension on the axle components.
2 The steering wheel must be "evened out" into the center position before beginning the measuring and adjusting. Use steering wheel scales (VAS 6458) for this.
3 Front axle camber, checking and adjusting

4 Check rear axle camber and adjust if necessary.

5 Check rear axle toe and adjust if necessary.

6 Check toe in curb weight position at the front axle and adjust if necessary.

7 If adjustments were made at the suspension during axle alignment on vehicles with ESP or ABS, calibrate the steering angle sensor (G85) and reprogram the steering. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment ] Wheel Alignment.
8 On vehicles with level control sensor, headlamp range control basic setting must be performed after an axle alignment. Refer to => [ Level Control System Sensor Overview ] Level Control System Sensor Overview.

To do this, use the vehicle diagnostic tester.
