Charge Air Cooler






Charge Air Cooler

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

Removing

If there are small impressions on the fins, refer to => [ Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers ] Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers.

- Remove radiator. Refer to => [ Radiator ] Radiator.

- Remove front bumper cover.

To prevent damage to condenser and also to the refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the pipes and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.


Do not open the air conditioning refrigerant circuit.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - by the releasing air ducts at left and right and tipping in the direction of the headlamps.






- Tip charge air cooler back slightly at upper edge.

- Disengage charge air cooler from lower mounting points by raising cooler.

- Slide charge air cooler in direction of engine.

- Support charge air cooler from below so that it cannot sink down.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.






- Unhook the charge air cooler upward and remove downward.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Charge Air Cooler Overview ] Charge Air Cooler Overview.

- Install air guide pipes and connector. Refer to => [ Hose Connections with Connector Couplings ] Service and Repair.

- Fill with coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Install front bumper cover.
