Intermediate Shaft

Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

- Remove the drive axle on the right side. Refer to => [ Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint with Inner Splines ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint With Inner Splines, => [ Drive Axle with Intermediate Shaft, Bolted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle With Intermediate Shaft, Bolted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle with Intermediate Shaft, Inserted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle With Intermediate Shaft, Inserted Inner Joint or => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner CV Joint with Inner Splines ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner CV Joint With Inner Splines.

- Loosen the bolts - arrows - on mounting bracket.






- Pull intermediate shaft off from transmission.

Intermediate shaft, servicing. Refer to => [ Intermediate Shaft ] Front Suspension.

Installing






- First replace the seal - 1 - on transmission.

- Push the intermediate shaft onto the transmission shaft until the mount - 2 - rests against the bracket - 1 - without any gaps.






- Tighten the bolts - arrows - to 20 Nm.






- Install the drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle, Bolted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint with Inner Splines ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner Joint With Inner Splines, => [ Drive Axle with Intermediate Shaft, Bolted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle With Intermediate Shaft, Bolted Inner Joint, => [ Drive Axle with Intermediate Shaft, Inserted Inner Joint ] Drive Axle With Intermediate Shaft, Inserted Inner Joint or => [ Drive Axle, Inserted Inner CV Joint with Inner Splines ] Drive Axle, Inserted Inner CV Joint With Inner Splines.
