Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service Precautions

Contact Corrosion

The transmission housing consists of a magnesium alloy.

Bolts and other components which have direct contact with the transmission have a surface coating which is matched to the magnesium transmission housing.

Contact corrosion occurs when incorrect components (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) are used. The transmission housing will be damaged.

If you are not sure about the suitability of parts, install new one.

Warranty does not cover contact corrosion damage.
