Sunroof Frame Rail, Removing and Installing

When removing the rail, the sunroof frame remains installed

- Open the sunroof frame and unclip the side trim panels from the side - 1 -.







Be careful not to damage the paint in any visible areas when unlocking the guide. Use adhesive tape in this area.

- Use a screwdriver to release the guide - 2 - on both sides in direction of - arrow - from the sunshade arch - 1 -.






- Remove the sun shade arch - 1 - from the guide - 2 - in direction of - arrow -.






Remove the sunshade rail - 1 - from the guide in the direction of the arrow - 2 -.






- Trim off the corner of the rail - 1 - for the sunroof shade at the point indicated in the illustration.






- Remove the protective strip for the sunroof shade - 2 - sideways out of the guide - 3 - on the sunshade rail.


Since the sunroof shade is pre-tensioned so do not let go of it at this point or it will unroll again.

- Cut off the corner on the same side of the new rail.

- Now push the cover for the sunroof shade sideways again to put it back on the guide.

- Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Replace the Guide

Just remove the sunroof shade when replacing the guide; the protective strip should remain in the guide for the rail.

- After you have finished removing the shade rail from the front sunroof shade, remove the guide - 1 - by sliding it toward the rear, sideways of the guides.

- The guides on the rear of the sunroof shade must be pushed forward.






On vehicles equipped with new guides and an old rail that has no opening, the retaining tabs - arrow - have to be removed so that they are flush before the rail can before the rail can be installed.
