Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)

Removing
Observe safety precautions, refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
Observe rules for cleanliness, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• To remove fuel level sensor 2, the fuel tank may only be filled to a maximum of 1/3. Empty fuel tank if necessary. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank, Draining, AWD ] Fuel Tank, Draining, AWD.
Risk of destroying electrical components when battery is disconnected.
• Observe measures when disconnecting battery.
- Disconnect battery.
- Open fuel filler flap briefly and then close again.
- Remove rear seat bench.
- Unclip the retainers - arrows - of the cover for left sealing flange.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 1 - at locking flange.
- Disengage electrical harness connector - 2 - and lay it aside.
The fuel level sensor 2 may only be removed when fuel tank is maximum 1/3 full. Otherwise, a large amount of fuel will spill out.
- Remove locking ring with (T10202).
- Carefully pull fuel level sensor 2 - 2 - and suction jet pump - 1 - partially out of fuel tank opening.
- Remove seal.
- Unclip the suction jet pump from the locking flange - arrows -.
• When removing, be sure not to bend floater arm of fuel level sensor 2.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor Overview, AWD Version 2 ] Fuel Delivery Unit and Fuel Level Sensor Overview, AWD Version 2.
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
• Replace seal.
• When inserting, be sure not to bend floater arm on fuel level sensor 2.
- Carefully insert fuel level sensor 2 - 2 - into fuel tank opening.
- Clip the suction jet pump - 1 - on the sealing flange - 2 - until it engages audibly while spreading the mount on the locking flange slightly - arrows -.
- Install the new locking flange seal dry.
- Press the locking flange down and bring it into the installation position.
• The tab - 2 - on locking flange faces toward the arrow marking and must lie between tabs - 1 - and - 3 - on fuel tank.
• - Arrow - points in direction of travel.
- Tighten locking ring.
- Install rear seat bench.
- Observe safety precautions after connecting battery.
