Subframe, servicing
Servicing subframe for vehicles with front wheel drive
Servicing subframe for vehicles with all wheel drive
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Installation device 3372
^ Assembly tool T10214
^ Assembly tool T10244
Pressing out bonded rubber bushings (vehicles with front-wheel drive)
- Remove subframe.
- Attach Assembly tool T10244 to subframe.
- Press out both bonded rubber bushings together, as shown in Illustration.
Note:
^ Flat side of Pressure piece - 3372/1 - must face insert - A - of Assembly tool T10244, otherwise insert may be damaged.
^ The Tube T1024413 has a larger and a smaller inside diameter. Subframe must rest on larger inside diameter of Tube T10244/3.
Pressing in bonded rubber bushings (vehicles with front-wheel drive)
- Bolt together both bonded rubber bushings using original bolt, for this, the two recesses - arrows - must align.
- Insert bolted bonded rubber bushings into Tube T10214/2 with bolt head facing downward.
1. Thrust piece T10214/3
2. Bonded rubber bushing
3. Tube T10214/2
4. Tube T10214/1
5. Thrust plate VW 401
6. Thrust plate VW 402
- Press bonded rubber bushing - 1 - in until dimension - a - is reached.
Dimension - a - = 2.3 mm.
- Align Tube T10214/2 with pressed-in bonded rubber bushings to subframe. Corners of inner core must be in parallel line to edge of Assembly tool T10244.
- Position subframe onto smaller inside diameter of tube T10244/3.
- Press bushings to stop and until a press force of 20 kN is reached.
- Remove Assembly tool T10244 from subframe and check seating of pressed-in bonded rubber bushings.
^ Recesses of bonded rubber bushings must be positioned in center of subframe opening.
^ In area of opening for pendulum support, bonded rubber bushing may project over edges of subframe 2 mm at top and bottom.
^ A gap - arrow - between bonded rubber bushings is permissible.
- Install subframe.
