28 Brief engine stumble while driving
Condition
The customer complains of a brief sudden engine stumble (lasting approximately 1 second) while cruising at moderate vehicle speed. Engine functionality is otherwise normal, and no other symptoms are present. This symptom is extremely sporadic and does not generate any DTC or MIL illumination.
Technical Background
Electrical interference on the signal generated by the camshaft position sensor.
Production Solution
Improved camshaft position sensor.
Service
Figure 1:
Replace the camshaft position sensor.
1. Replace O-ring only if damaged.
2. Tighten bolt to 10 Nm.
