Selector Lever Handle and Shift Mechanism Cover Assembly Overview

• Lubricate the bearing areas and slide surfaces with polycarbamide grease (G 052 142 A2).





1 Selector lever

2 Selector lever shaft piece

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

3 Selector lever handle

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

4 Cover

• With selector scale and Tiptronic gate.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tiptronic Switch ] Service and Repair, and also unclipping symbol inserts.

5 Symbol panel

• Clipped into the cover.

6 Printed circuit board

• With integrated Tiptronic switch (F189).

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tiptronic Switch ] Service and Repair.

• Switch consists of 3 Hall sensors, which are activated by a magnet on the transverse slide of the cover strip.

• If malfunctioning, start by checking whether the solenoid is correctly fixed on the cross slide masking panel => [ (Item 7) Cover strip ] , replace the masking panel if necessary.

• Before replacing the circuit board when DTC "18161" is entered in the DTC memory, first check the adjustment of the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjusting ] Adjustments.

7 Cover strip

• With the solenoid for Tiptronic switch (F189) on the transverse slide.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tiptronic Switch ] Service and Repair.
