Four-Way Lumbar Support






Four-Way Lumbar Support

Through June 2006

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Special pop rivet pliers (V.A.G 1753 A)





1 Backrest Padding

2 Four-Way Lumbar Support

3 Clamping Sleeve

4 Four-Way Lumbar Support Frame

Removing

- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.

- Pry fastening strips - 10 - (Qty. 4) out with a screwdriver.

- Insert foil between upholstery and backrest frame to protect against metal particles.

- Drill out rivet - 7 -.

- Disengage four-way lumbar support frame - 4 - at upper left and right from backrest frame.

- Disconnect electrical harness connectors at actuators - 5 - and - 9 - for four-way lumbar support.

- Disconnect Velcro connector between four-way lumber support - 2 - and backrest upholstery - 1 -.

- Disengage four-way lumber support at top of frame.

- Remove four-way lumbar support.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Place a plastic film over Velcro strips on four-way lumbar support. Secure plastic film to four-way lumbar support. Refer to => [ Secure four-way lumbar support with assembly aid and secure plastic film to four-way lumbar support. ].

- Ensure four-way lumbar support is secured to frame with transport fastener or a suitable pin. Refer to => [ Secure four-way lumbar support with assembly aid and secure plastic film to four-way lumbar support. ].

- Position lumbar support frame behind backrest and engage lumbar support frame at top left and right in mounts on frame.

- Rivet bottom of four-way lumbar support frame with backrest frame. A plastic washer must be placed between four-way lumbar support frame and backrest frame => [ Four-Way Lumbar Support With Backrest Frame, Riveting ].

- Remove plastic film between backrest padding and four-way lumbar support.

- Press four-way lumbar support Velcro fastener onto backrest padding to secure.

- Connect electrical connectors to four-way lumbar support motors.

Rivet using special pop rivet pliers (V.A.G 1753 A)

before riveting, a plastic washer must be placed between four-way lumbar support and backrest frame

8 Plastic Washer

9 Four-way Lumbar Support Height Adjustment Motor

Removing and Installing, Refer to => [ Four-Way Lumbar Support Motors ] Four-Way Lumbar Support Motors

10 Fastening Strips

Secure four-way lumbar support with assembly aid and secure plastic film to four-way lumbar support.





- Lay plastic film - 1 - over Velcro strips - 2 - on four-way lumbar support. Secure plastic film to four-way lumbar support.

- Ensure four-way lumbar support is attached to four-way lumbar support frame with assembly fastener - 3 - or a suitable pin.

- Before securing rivet - 4 -, a plastic washer - 1 - must be placed between four-way lumbar support - 2 - and backrest frame - 3 -.
