Wires and Components, Testing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Test box (V.A.G 1598A) and associated adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) and adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12)

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A) with the multimeter leads (VAS 5051/7 ), DSO measuring leads 1 & 2 (VAS 5051/8 ), and inductive pickup 50 amps (VAS 5051/9 )

• Voltage tester (V.A.G 1527 B)

• Connector test set (V.A.G 1594C)

• Temperature measuring device (commercially available)

• During on board diagnostic, no adapter cable of the test box (V.A.G 1598A) may be connected to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

- Switch off ignition.

- Remove the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

- Connect the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11 ) and the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12) to the disconnected connectors of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.





• Do not connect the Climatronic control module (J255 ) A/C control head.

• Connect the relevant adapter cable to measure the test box (V.A.G 1598A).

• The jack assignment in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12 ) is identical to the connector assignment of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

• The jack assignment in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11 ) is not identical to the connector assignment of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

• The contact assignment of connectors "A" and "B " in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) is not identical to the jack assignment at the test box (V.A.G 1598A).

• The contact assignment of connector "C" in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) is identical to the jack assignment at the test box (V.A.G 1598A).

• The contact assignment of connector "D" in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12) is identical to the jack assignment at the test box (V.A.G 1598A).

• As a result of the division of the connectors to the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head into two adapter cables (adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) and adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12)), no ground connection is available for testing with the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11 ) connected. To conduct electrical testing, it is therefore necessary to measure against a suitable ground point on the vehicle body for various test steps or to use a second test box (V.A.G 1598A) (with the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12) connected, ground is applied at jack "13").





Checking

• All fuses are OK:

• The adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) and the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12) are connected to the disconnected connectors of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

- Set the "measurement" operating mode in the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A)





- On the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) select the type of measurement required for the different test steps by pressing the appropriate button on the display of the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A).
