Brake Caliper Component Overview, C38
• When carrying out repairs install all parts supplied in the repair kit.
• Apply a thin coat of lithium grease (G 052 150 A2 ) to the brake cylinder, piston and seal.
1 - Self-locking bolt, 35 Nm
• Always replace.
• Counter hold on the guide pin when loosening and tightening.
2 - Brake caliper housing with lever for parking brake cable
• Replace the brake caliper housing if there is a leak at the lever for the parking brake cable
• After repairing, pre-bleed the brake caliper housing, refer to => [ Brake System Bleeding ] Brake System Bleeding.
3 - Bleeder valve
4 - Dust cap
• Install onto the bleeder valve
5 - Sealing ring
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Caliper Piston, C38 ] Rear.
6 - Piston with automatic adjustment
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Caliper Piston, C38 ] Rear.
7 - Guide pin
• Lubricate before installing the protective cap
8 - Protective seal
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ The surface of the piston and seal should be cleaned using only methylated spirits and then dried. ] Rear.
• Push outer sealing lip onto piston
9 - Protective cap
• Insert onto brake carrier and guide pin
10 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective cap
• Replacement carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease on the guide pins
• If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, replace them using the repair kit. Use grease packet supplied to lubricate the guide pins.
