Mechatronics unit, Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217, Multi-function transmission range (TR) switch F125, Transmission input speed (RPM) sensor G182 and Transmission output speed (RPM) sensor G195 - 09L, 6 Speed AWD A/T

Location: the mechatronics unit is bolted to the underside of the transmission housing and covered by the transmission oil pan.

The mechatronics unit incorporates the hydraulic control system, the electronic control module and the sensors and actuators as a complete synchronized unit. This includes:

^ Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217
^ Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch F125
^ Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor G182
^ Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor G195

The "mechatronics" unit can only be replaced as a complete unit.

Note: All components mentioned are tested via Self-diagnosis.





Tiptronic switch F189

^ Location: The Tiptronic switch F189 is integrated in the printed circuit of the symbol panel, which is located in the selector mechanism cover.
^ Comprises 3 Hall sensors actuated by a magnet on transverse slide of the sliding cover.

A - Tip-down sensor
B - Sensor for Tiptronic recognition
C - Tip-up sensor





Note:
^ In the event of faults, first check that magnet is properly secured on the transverse slide - C - of the sliding cover. Replace sliding cover if necessary. Always check wiring before replacing symbol insert with integrated printed circuit. On vehicles with multi-function steering wheel the buttons on the steering wheel and their wiring connections must also be checked.
