Rear Shelf, Removing And Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1410
1 - Rear shelf
- Removal:
- Fold rear seat backrest down.
With fixed rear seat backrest:
- Remove rear seat backrest.
- Remove D-pillar trim on left and right.
- Remove left and right rear side bolsters.
- Disconnect harness connector to 3rd brake light.
With fixed rear seat backrest:
- Loosen third belt downward and thread it through.
NOTE: In the following, removal is described in three versions, depending on whether a rear shelf without fixtures, with speakers or with speakers and sun shade is to be removed. The following steps beneath "All" are again valid for all three variations.
Version 1 removal: rear shelf without fixtures
- Proceed with removal as described under "All".
Version 2 removal: rear shelf with integrated speaker
- Detach speaker grill - 3 - from rear shelf - 1 -.
- Remove four bolts - 5 -between speakers and rear shelf - 1 -.
Version 3 removal: rear shelf with integrated speaker and sun shade
- Detach speaker grill - 3 - from rear shelf - 1 -.
- Remove two bolts - 5 -at front corners of speakers and one bolt - 5 -from below.
- Remove three bolts of sun shade - 4 - in luggage compartment (from below)
- Remove sun shade - 4 - toward front.
All:
- Move rear shelf - 1 - toward front in direction of arrow and disengage it from insertion edge - 2 -.
- Remove rear shelf - 1 - upward and toward front.
- Installing:
Depending on the version, installation is the reverse of removal.
2 - Rear shelf insertion edge
3 - Speaker (grille)
4 - Sun shade
5 - Bolts between speaker and rear shelf
- Depending on version, 3 or 4 bolts in varying positions
Electrical sun shade threaded connection in luggage compartment
- Loosen bolts - 1 - (3x).
Tightening torque: 4 Nm
