Components for vehicles with 4-cyl. engines and 6-cyl. diesel engines, assembly overview
There is no provision for repairing the power steering pump. If problems are reported, find malfunction by means of a pressure test and a leakage test. Replace power steering pump if a malfunction is found.

Note:
^ Always check steering system for leaks if fluid level is low in reservoir.
^ In the case of leaks at the line connections first tighten connections and wipe dry then recheck for leaks.
^ Replacement pumps are not filled with fluid. It is essential to fill the pump with hydraulic fluid G 002 000 and to rotate the pump by hand before installing, otherwise the pump may be damaged or be noisy during operation.
^ Type of fluid: hydraulic fluid G 002 000





1 - Power steering gear

2 - Return line

3 - Pressure line

4 - Cap with dipstick

5 - Hex bolt, 5 Nm

6 - Reservoir
^ Re-fill with hydraulic fluid, Part No. G 002 000

7 - Rubber bushing

8 - Clamp
^ Use V.A.G. 1275 to tighten
^ Always replace

9 - Return hose
^ Between reservoir and cooling line

10 - Clamp
^ Use V.A.G. 1275 to tighten
^ Always replace

11 - Hex bolt, 10 Nm

12 - Cooling line
