Display Group 021

Position of the thumb wheel for the passenger seat heating element, actual and target temperature of the heating element in the passenger seat (heated passenger seat temperature sensor (G60)), and activation of the heating element in the passenger seat (passenger seat heating element (Z8))

Only observe this display group in vehicles with heated seats.

The position of the thumb wheel is determined in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head via a potentiometer (variable resistance). Due to tolerances in this potentiometer, a fixed value for the particular position cannot be determined.

If there is an open circuit in the wire connection to the heated passenger seat temperature sensor (G60) or in the heated passenger seat temperature sensor (G60), an actual temperature less than -30°C is displayed as a substitution value (e.g. 49 ?) and the seat heater is not switched on

The seat heating elements in the seat (heating element for seat cushions, backrest and seat bolsters) are switched to each other differently. If there is an open circuit in the heating element of the seat cushion, the seat bolsters can still be heated depending on the structure of the seat heater since the seat cushion (and thus the heated passenger seat temperature sensor (G60) in the seat) remains cold, the seat bolsters are heated without regulation.

If the generator (C) generates insufficient current, the heating output of the seat heater is reduced by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head or the seat heater is switched off completely. If the voltage at the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is less than approximately 12.3 V (display group "017 ". Refer to => [ Display Group 017 ] Measured Value Blocks for Display Groups 011 Through 019), the output to the seat heating elements is no longer continuously connected but only in a clocked manner (although the target temperature has not yet been reached); at a voltage less than approximately 10.6 V the seat heater is switched off completely.

If the thumb wheel is in position "0", -41...-61 (-99)°C is displayed. This ensures that the seat heater is not switched on in this position even at extreme temperatures.

If the measured actual temperature (display field "2") is greater than the set target temperature (display field "3") and the displayed target temperature is less than the temperature value specified for this position of the thumb wheel, disregard the display in the display field "3".

The position of the thumb wheel is determined in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head via a potentiometer (variable resistance). Due to tolerances in this potentiometer, a fixed value for the particular position cannot be determined. The displayed target temperature can therefore deviate from the target temperature specified in the display field.

Depending on the version of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head, the target temperature (of the seat cushion) displayed in the display field for this position of the thumb wheel changes. This changes as soon as the position "0" changes from -41...-61 (-99°C ) to the specified target temperature or the display only changes from -41...-61 (-99°C) to the specified target value (of the seat cushion) when the target temperature is greater than the actual temperature measured in the seat cushion.
