Oil Filter: Service and Repair


Engine Oil, Draining, Replacing Filter

WARNING! Oil extraction not permitted with various engine types!

Note:
- Perform oil change at operating temperature.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hazet tension band -2171-1- or Oil filter wrench -3417-
- Oil extractor -VAG 1782-
- Oil Drain Adapter -T 40057- (2.0 TFSI)

Note:
- Observe waste disposal regulations!

3.2 FSI

Note:
- Loosen the cap before draining / extracting, so that the engine oil can run out of the oil filter housing.



- Remove coolant reservoir - 1- and lay aside.
- Remove oil filter cover with -SW 36- -2-.
- Clean sealing surfaces oil filter cover and at oil filter housing.
- Replace oil filter insert.

Sealing ring on cap, replacing



- Remove sealing ring at pull tab -arrow A- from cap -1-. A
- Insert new sealing ring -2- with semicircular profile in groove -arrow 8- on cap.

- The pull tab -arrow A- must face upward.
- Smooth side of sealing ring -2- must face toward outside

O-ring, inserting in oil filter housing



- Insert O-ring -2- in groove -arrow- on oil filter housing -1-.

Note:
- Observe waste disposal regulations!

- Engage new oil filter insert in oil filter cover.
- Install oil filter cover.
- Install coolant reservoir.
- Remove noise insulation. Service and Repair
- Open oil drain plug on oil pan or extract engine oil.
- Install oil drain plug.
- Fill motor oil.

Note:
- Oil drain plug is installed without seal.
- Check for cleanliness.

Tightening Specifications
Oil filter cover 25 Nm
Oil drain plug on oil pan 30 Nm
