Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting
Disconnecting
CAUTION!
For vehicles with Telematics, activate service mode of Telematics control module before disconnecting the battery.
- On vehicles with coded radio control module/radio navigation system (only other manufacturers), note code, obtain if necessary.
- Switch off ignition.
- Slide the cover over the battery to the right - arrow 1 - and remove it - arrow 2 -.
- Loosen nut several turns and remove ground wire terminal clamp - arrow - from battery terminal.
Connecting
- To connect, connect terminal clamp of Ground (GND) wire by hand to battery negative terminal "-" and tighten nut.
When the battery is re-connected, the following steps must be performed:
• Activate the radio/radio navigation, clock, power windows. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
• Deactivate the service mode on the Telematics control module.
• Check radio remote control for function, synchronize radio key if necessary. Inform customer that second key and any additional keys must be synchronized so that the remote control functions properly. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
• Check DTC memories of all control modules and erase "Undervoltage " DTC if necessary Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
• After re-connecting voltage supply, ESP Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) only goes out after driving several meters.
