Stone Shield (Old Version) For Rear Tie Rod



Stone shield 8E0 501 561 (old version) for tie rod (three-piece version), removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Torque wrench V.A.G. 1410

Note:
^ The stone shield for the tie rod is only installed on vehicles with comfort/heavy-duty suspension.
^ The stone shield 8E0 501 561 (old version) can only be installed in vehicles with a three-piece tie rod (old version).

Replacing stone shield with tie rod removed





- Loosen bolts - 2 -.
- Push clamps - 1 - inward.
- Unclip stone shield from tie rod.

Installation is carried out in reverse sequence.
Tightening torque for Item 2: 5 Nm

Replacing stone shield with tie rod in vehicle

Removing
- Using a knife, cut stone shield open in vicinity of the bolt connections at the trapezoidal link. Take care not to damage tie rod.





- Loosen bolts - 2 -.
- Push clamps - 1 - inward.
- Unclip stone shield from tie rod.

Installing





- Make a cut at top of new stone shield - A -.
- Push clamps - 1 - inward.
- Clip stone shield onto tie rod.
- Push clamps - 1 - outward and tighten bolts - 2 - to 5 Nm.
