Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 10-22 dated June 14, 2010 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
Headlights vibrate.
Technical Background
Under certain operating conditions, such as at idle, vibrations or resonances in the front of the vehicle can cause the headlights to vibrate.
As a result, the light beam shakes.
Possible causes:
^ Mounting points of the headlight loose.
^ Headlight reflector detached or broken.
^ Alignment of the headlight to the body not correct.
^ Vibrations of the vehicle at idle.
Production Solution
No change.
Service
1. Check the mounting points of the headlight for correct fit.
2. Check the mounting of the reflector inside the headlight assembly.
3. Align the headlight to the body.
4. Position the headlight assembly with rubber wedges as shown in Figure 1 to isolate the vibration.
Observe the following points:
^ Minor vibrations of the light beam are still possible. This is normal.
^ A replacement of the headlights under warranty is only permitted if the reflector of the headlight is detached or broken.
^ Ensure the headlights are properly aligned before returning vehicle to the customer.
