Condensation Drain Hose
Condensation Drain Hose
• This vehicle is equipped with 2 condensate drains (left and right on the air conditioner or center tunnel).
• If there is no door on the condensed water hose outlet opening - A -, the condensed water runs over the rubber lips - D -.
Checking
• Always check both condensation water drains.
• Disconnect condensation water drain hose - A - and check the following:
- Check the gap between the lower floor panel - F - and the insulation mat - G - installed in the center tunnel. There must be enough space for condensation to exit from the condensation drain - D -.
- Check condensation the water drain of the A/C unit - E - for contaminants (e.g. using a piece of wire) and clean it if necessary.
- Check the installation position of the floor mat, it must not constrict (compress) the cross section of the condensation water drain hose - A -.
• For complaints of moisture in passenger compartment, check the following components as well as condensation water drains:
- Water drain openings in plenum chamber => [ Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Checking, Cleaning ] Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Checking, Cleaning.
- Water drain from the air intake unit => [ Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Checking, Cleaning ] Plenum Chamber Water Drain, Checking, Cleaning.
- Plenum chamber cover and wind cowl for damage and correct installation
- The dust and pollen filter (and if available, the dust filter on the air intake unit) for contamination and proper installation => [ Dust and Pollen Filter ] Service and Repair.
- Forced air extraction vents in luggage compartment => [ Vent Frame, Checking ] Vent Frame, Checking.
- Fresh air door/back pressure door activation and function and recirculation door (for example, via the "output diagnostic test mode")
- The signal for detecting windshield wiper operation is displayed at the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head
• Check vent temperature of air from the evaporator via measured values of the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor (G263) under operating conditions reported by customer with the following settings on the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head.
- Temperature preselect "Lo" for driver's and front passenger's side (on "Comfort" version) or temperature switch at "Cold" stop (on "Basic" version)
- Intermediate fresh air blower speed (approximately 7 volts).
- Operating mode "Fresh Air".
- Check the measured value for the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor (G263) (read measured value block). If the measured value is too low (at an ambient temperature above 0 °C, colder than 0 °C for extended period of time) or too high (greater than e.g. 10 °C even though A/C system is operating without problems), follow the notes for testing cooling output => [ A/C Unit, Checking Cooling Output ] A/C Unit, Checking Cooling Output.
Removing
- Remove left and/or or right cover of the center console.
- If necessary, carefully fold back floor mat far enough that condensation water drain hose - A - is visible.
- Disengage clamp - B -
- Cover area of floor mat under condensation water drain hose - A - with absorbent paper (so that any water present does not flow on to or below floor mat).
- Remove condensation water drain hose - A -.
Installing
• Check the following before installing condensation water drain hose - A -:
- The gap between the lower floor panel - F - and the insulation mat - G - installed in the center tunnel: there must be enough space for condensation to exit from the condensation drain - D -.
- Check the condensation water drain of the A/C unit - E - for contamination (e.g. using a piece of wire) and clean it if necessary.
- Insert condensation water drain into opening in lower floor plate - C -.
- Install the condensation water drain hose - A - at the condensation water drain of the A/C unit - E - and secure with the clamp - B -.
- Check the installation position of the floor mat, it must not constrict (compress) the cross section of the condensation water drain hose - A -.
- Install the left and/or right covers of the center console. Ensure they are not touching the condensation water drain hose - A - and are not compressing its cross section.
