Shift Interlock: Description and Operation







Selector Mechanism Emergency Release

When the battery is disconnected or has been discharged, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.

By operating the manual release the shift lock solenoid (N110) will release the selector lever when there is no power supply.

- Remove the front ashtray insert.





- Pry the cover cap in the ashtray housing out with a screwdriver - arrow -.

The shape of the cover caps may differ from the illustration.

- Press in the cylinder - arrow - on the shift lock solenoid (N110) through the center opening in the ashtray housing, e.g. with a screwdriver, and at the same time, with the button on the selector lever pressed, move the selector lever out of the "P" position.





In this way, the selector lever lock is released in the "P" position via the locking lever - 1 -.

The cylinder - arrow - on the shift lock solenoid (N110) is sometimes partially covered with a noise insulation mat or a wire which must be moved to the side.
