Glove Compartment Bracket Repair Tab

Drill bit dia. 3.6 mm





If glove compartment bracket is broken on right instrument panel central pipe brace, this can be replaced with a repair tab.

Shown in the illustration with instrument panel removed.

- Remove glove compartment. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment ] Glove Compartment.

- Remove center instrument panel vent. Refer to => [ Center Instrument Panel Vent ] Center Instrument Panel Vent.

- Remove Climatronic Control Module (J255) (A/C Control Head).

- Separate rest of damaged tab - 3 - from central pipe brace - 1 - - arrow A -.

- Deburr separating area - arrow B - on central pipe brace.

- Position repair tab - 4 - on central pipe brace - arrow C -.

Repair tab must lie on tab - 7 -.

Vertical edge of repair tab must lie on left side of tab - 7 -.

- Secure repair tab in this position and drill two dia. 3.6 mm holes in central pipe brace.

Holes in repair tab serve as a drilling template.

- Remove repair tab and roughen contact surfaces on repair tab and brace with sandpaper.

- Clean repair tab and brace.

Contact surfaces must be free of dust and grease.

- Coat entire repair tab contact surface with adhesive material from repair kit.

- Install repair tab on central pipe brace with screws - 2 - from repair kit, tightening them to 4 Nm.

- Install glove compartment bracket - 5 - on repair tab using previous screws - 6 -, tightening them to 9 Nm.

- Cover sharp edges on repair tab and separating area using felt strips from repair kit.

- Check for proper routing of all electrical wires.

- When installing, position cable ties in same place.
