Knock Sensor: Service and Repair
Knock Sensors
CAUTION!
• Fuel system is under high pressure! Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, pressure must be relieved to residual pressure. Refer to => [ Before Opening High Pressure Fuel Injection System ] Service and Repair.
• Then wrap a clean rag around the connection and relieve residual pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
Removing
- Remove each intake manifold.
Vehicles with a magnesium intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.
Vehicles with a plastic intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] Intake Manifold.
- Remove Knock Sensor 1 (G61) - 2 - or Knock sensor 2 (G66) - 9 -.
- Remove Knock Sensor 3 (G198) - 8 - or Knock sensor 4 (G199) - 1 -.
Installing
- Attach the respective removed knock sensor in its installation location.
• Tightening Specifications. Refer to => [ Ignition Assembly Overview ] Ignition Assembly Overview
• Tightening specifications affects function of Knock Sensor (KS).
- Install each intake manifold.
