Securing Transmission to Engine and Transmission Holder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Holding plate (VW 309)

• Engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095)

Procedure

• Transmission secured using the workshop crane (VAS 6100). Refer to => [ Transmission Transporting ] Transmission Transporting.

- Connect the holding plate (VW 309) to the attachment and holding rig (3457).

- Using the workshop crane place the transmission into the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

CAUTION!
The center of gravity of the transmission is located outside the holding fixture center of rotation. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back-swing.

• The ventings for the transmission housing and final drive must be closed before turning a filled transmission with oil pan upward on the engine and transmission holder.
