Front Bumper

Removing

- Remove lock carrier cover. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover ] Lock Carrier Cover.

- Remove bolts on upper cover. Refer to => [ Front Bumper ] Front Bumper.

Diagrams are shown with wheels removed for the sake of a better illustration.

Wheels remain installed when removing bumper.

Turn the front wheels inside on the side whose wheel housing you have to pull back.

- For this purpose, remove bolts and quick release screws - 1 - and - 2 -. Rear noise insulation (quick release screws -3-) remains installed.





- Loosen left and right wheel housing liners in front area - arrows -.





- Press wheel housing up - arrow A - and away.





- Remove the bolts - 1 -.

- Remove nuts above for zero gap connection => [ (Item 6) Hex nut ] Front Bumper with Socket (T40078).

- Unclip bumper rear edge from catch - arrow B -.

- Repeat procedure on opposite side of the vehicle.





- Disconnect electrical connections - 2 -and connection to hose - 1 -for headlight washer system on bumper, if necessary.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:

Before installing bumper, check to see if threaded pins at bumper rear edge as well as expanding clips and sleeves in the fenders are present.

- Slide bumper on and reconnect headlight washer system hose - 1 - and connectors.





- Move bumper into installation position. Make sure the threaded pins in bumper side walls engage into holes at the fenders.

- Pull back wheel housing liner - arrow A -.





- Press rear bumper edge into guide piece catch - arrow B -.

- Tighten screws to - 1 - (1 Nm).

- Repeat procedure on opposite side of the vehicle.
