Rear Suspension



Wheel bearing unit, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removing

Applies to vehicles with coil spring suspension

Front Wheel Drive (FWD)
- Remove wheel.

All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Remove decorative wheel cover, for light-alloy wheels remove protective cap (use pulling hook in vehicle tool kit).
- Loosen collar bolt for outer joint of drive axle (only loosen when vehicle is standing on its wheels danger of accident-).
- Remove coil spring.





- Remove wheel speed sensor - 3 -.
- Remove drive axle.

Applies to vehicles with air spring suspension

Front Wheel Drive (FWD)
- Position vehicle on lifting platform Placing vehicle onto lifting platform and onto wheels.
- Remove wheel.

All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Position vehicle on lifting platform Placing vehicle onto lifting platform and onto wheels.
- Remove decorative wheel cover, for light-alloy wheels remove protective cap (use pulling hook in vehicle tool kit).
- Loosen collar bolt for outer joint of drive axle (only loosen when vehicle is standing on its wheels danger of accident-).
- Remove air spring.





- Remove wheel speed sensor - 3 -.
- Remove drive axle.

Applies to all vehicles
- Remove brake caliper and brake disc.
- Secure brake caliper to body so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage brake hose or brake line.





- Remove countersunk bolts - 1 -.
- Remove wheel bearing unit.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note:

- Install drive axle.
- In vehicles with air spring suspension, install air spring.
- In vehicles with all-wheel drive (AWD) tighten collar bolt for outer joint of drive axle (only tighten when vehicle is standing on its wheels -danger of accident-).
