After switching the ignition on and off the volume of the navigation announcements, traffic reports, phone voice output or radio changes. The same happens, if the MMI is switched off and restarted with the knob.

All vehicles with MMI High are affected.

Affected Vehicles

Technical Background

This is a deliberate comfort feature to avoid an extreme high or low volume when the MMI system is activated.

With ignition on, volume adjustment for Navigation, Audio, Speech Dialog System and Telephone can be individually selected in the MMI system. After switching the MMI system off and afterwards on again, the individual volume settings are evaluated by the MMI system and if necessary changed as follows:

^ A very low volume will be increased to a specified value, similar to the setting in illustration 1. This ensures that the information is audible.

^ A very high volume will be lowered to a similar specified value shown in illustration 2. This ensures that the customer isn't irritated by a possible excessive volume, which was selected before.

^ Medium values remain unchanged.

The values shown in illustrations above are approximate figures.
