Service

1. Follow the battery test instructions in the Guided Functions (GF) or Guided Fault Finding (GFF) test program found under address word 61, Battery control. To enter battery test plan:

- Select GFF >> Go To >> Function/Component Selection >> Body >> Electrical Equipment >> 01-On Board Diagnostics >> 61-Battery, control >> J644-Energy Management Ctrl. Mo., functions >> Battery, test.

- Select GF >> 61-Battery control >> Battery, test.

2. The battery should be charged when installed and connected. This is the only means of ensuring charging content is taken into account in capacity calculation of the BEM.

3. Using the Midtronics InCharge 940 (INC-940) Battery Charging Station, connect the positive and negative cables to the corresponding remote jumper posts under the hood on the passenger's side.

NOTE: Ensure that the charging clamps do not contact each other as the remote positive and negative jumper posts are located close to one another.

4. Sedans:

- For batteries with DIN value 520, enter DIN value 235 into the charger when requested.

- For batteries with DIN value 450, enter DIN value 215 into the charger when requested.

This value difference is due to the BEM and added resistance in the system between the battery and remote jumper posts.

Avants:

a. Vehicles come with AGM type batteries, therefore when prompted enter AGM for battery type into the charger.

b. For AGM batteries with DIN value 520, enter DIN value 200 into the charger when requested.

This value difference is due to the BEM and added resistance in the system between the battery and remote jumper posts.
