72 Front center arm rest cover fails to open

Condition





Release cover for front armrest fails to open, preventing access to storage compartment in armrest.

Technical Background

Figure 1:

Latch broken at holding point or handle pivot (Figure 1).

Production Solution

Improved construction material for the latch.

Service

Replace armrest release handle assembly (part number 4F0 898 173 + color code). See repair manual in ElsaWeb >> Body Interior Group 68 >> Interior equipment >> Removal and Installation >> Front Center Armrest Cover.

Do not replace the entire armrest cover.
