Noises from the center console.

Technical Background

Noises result from movement between the center console and side trim or the ashtray and its mounting.

Production Solution

None.

Service

Figure 1:





1. Remove the side trim from the center console with a plastic wedge (Figure 1).

2. Apply G 060 172.A3 special lubricant to the entire contact area (Figure 2).

3. Pull the side of the console slightly away from the console body and apply G 052 172.A2 special lubricant into the contact area (Figure 3).

4. Remove any excess spray with D 009 401 04 all purpose cleaner.

5. Remove the ashtray insert and apply two pieces of 533 867 910 A felt strip as shown in Figure 4.

When procedure applies to vehicles under warranty, use the table.
