Affected Vehicles

91 Navigation MMI High: various malfunctions

Condition





Only MMI High navigation with hardware version HW49 (PR code 7Q2) may be affected. The following conditions may be present:

- MMI message Please check Navigation DVD even with a known good Navigation DVD.

- MMI message Navigation being initialized is displayed permanently.

- Navigation DVD is automatically ejected.

- Permanent fault entry DVD reading error or Drive initialization error is stored.

Technical Background

Possible misalignment of the navigation drive. Only navigation drive of hardware version HW49 may be affected.

Production Solution

Improved hardware from Version H50.

Service

1. Check the Navigation DVD for dirt and scratches. If possible, insert the DVD in another vehicle's navigation drive.





2. If the DVD is OK and the symptoms remain, check the hardware version of the navigation system (Figure 1). The hardware version can also be determined via the VAS tester.

3. If the complaint is permanently present irrespective of the Navigation DVD used, replace the navigation control unit with hardware version H50 or higher.
