Disc Set I

Disc Set I

If disc set I is being replaced, then the following is required:

Bearing D and E for disc set I must be replaced. Refer to => [ Bearing D and E for Disc Set I ] Bearing D and E for Disc Set I.

Bearing C must be checked for wear, and if necessary, replaced => [ Bearing C for Disc Set I ] Bearing C for Disc Set I.

The shim - 2 - and the circlip - 1 - must be measured again.

The old shim - 3 - is installed again in any case.

If, on the old disc set I, a spacer - 2 - was installed, then this is no longer necessary. The spacer is required only for bearing D with an inner race, which is being replaced by the bearing D without an inner race.

Procedure

- Remove the chain and disc set I. Refer to => [ Chain and Disc Set I ] Chain and Disc Set I.

- Check bearing C for disc set I for wear. Refer to => [ Chain, Disc Set I and II, Bearing C and Suction Jet Pump, Checking for Wear ] Chain, Disc Set I and II, Bearing C and Suction Jet Pump, Checking for Wear, if necessary replace bearing C, refer to => [ Bearing C for Disc Set I ] Bearing C for Disc Set I.

- Bearing D and E for disc set I must be replaced. Refer to => [ Bearing D and E for Disc Set I ] Bearing D and E for Disc Set I.

Determining the Shim and Circlip

- Install the old circlip - 1 - for disc set I into the groove on the old disc set I - 2 -.

Pay attention to the installed location: The bores in the circlip eyes are conical. The narrow side faces up

The circlip must contact the base of the groove.

- Determine and note dimension - a - old as illustrated.

Dimension - a - old is measured from the upper side of the circlip to the contact surface.

- Install the old circlip for disc set I into the groove on the new disc set I.

Pay attention to the installed location: The bores in the circlip eyes are conical. The narrow side faces up

The circlip must contact the base of the groove.

- Determine and note dimension - a - new as illustrated.

If the difference between dimension - a - old and dimension - a - new is less than 0.2 mm:

Install the new circlip with the same thickness as the old circlip and the old shim with the new disc set I again.

If the difference between dimension - a - old and dimension - a - new is less than 0.2 mm:

Determine the new shim as follows:

Dimension - b - is the total disc thickness of the circlip - 1 - and the shim - 2 -.

Dimension -b- old is the old total disc thickness, dimension -b- new is the new total disc thickness.

- Put together combination of shims and circlips available, which will result in dimension -b- new.

The total thickness of the new shim and the new circlip must not exceed dimension -b- new.

Assembling

- Install the new chain with the new disc set I. Refer to => [ Chain and Disc Set I ] Chain and Disc Set I.
