Digital TV Tuner, with Digital Radio (DAB)

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Open left luggage compartment storage bin.

- If present, remove navigation system with CD drive control module (J401). Refer to => [ Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module ] Removal and Replacement.

- Remove the nuts - 1 -, - 2 - and - 3 - (8 Nm).





- Swivel frame - 4 - with digital TV tuner (R171) out of left storage compartment.

- Disconnect harness connectors on digital TV tuner.

- Remove frame with digital TV tuner from luggage compartment.

- Rotate frame onto its rear side and remove bolts - 1 - (3 Nm).





Digital TV tuner is secured by a small clip - arrow - at bottom on the frame.

- Remove digital TV tuner - 2 - from frame.

Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Adapting Remote Control

- Switch on ignition.

- Press button - E - on digital TV tuner.





Use an Allen wrench (2.5 mm).

- At the same time, or at the very latest 1 second later, press the MENU on the remote control to confirm.

- Switch over to TV on the multimedia control head (E380).

TV is displayed on the front information display control head (J685).

- Check whether it is possible to receive an analog TV broadcast.

Always remember that analog TV reception is dependent on the device location.

- Switch over to "external AV source" on the multimedia control head.

"external AV source" is displayed on the front information display control head.

- Connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051).

- Switch on ignition.

- Press the button "Self-Diagnosis" on tester display.

Address word: "57 - TV tuner"

- Press the button "57 TV tuner" on tester display.

• Digital TV tuner provides no opportunity for diagnostic, only a limited antenna and video link diagnostic is possible via the installed TV tuner (R78).

Measured Value Block, Reading

- Tap diagnostic function "Read measured value block" in the selection.

- Enter the desired three-digit display group number in button field and press Q button to confirm input.

Display group number: 009

When voltage supply and antennae have been wired correctly, a "YES" appears in first display and a "No" in the second display in display fields.





- If a different display appears, check the wiring and repeat the diagnosis.

- End diagnosis.

Testing Remote Control

After remote control has been successfully adapted, the screen controls of digital TV tuner appears on the front information display control head at "external AV source".

- Make sure the screen on the digital TV tuner is working correctly.
