Service1. Replace the oil seal with the part number and potentiometer seals according to the following instructions:
To avoid sticking linkage in future, remove the seal spring before installation as follows:
Tip: Do not use a screwdriver or another tool to remove the spring to avoid damage to the sealing lip.
2. Remove the potentiometer of the intake manifold by removing the two M4x14 bolts and check the potentiometer and its flange for damage.
3. Remove the seal ring with a screwdriver. To do this, push the screwdriver under the seal and gently remove seal. (Figure 6).
4. Clean the potentiometer seal mounting area and oil the surface lightly with 10W40 motor oil.
5. The open side of the seal faces the potentiometer. Press the seal ring into seal mount firmly with your fingers, confirm seal is fully inserted. Observe the position, see Figure 7.
6. Lightly oil the potentiometer before the installation.
Oil the sensor on the contact surfaces, observe Figure 8. Also, apply oil on the contact surface of inner ring of the lip seal ring with engine oil 10W/40.
7. Fit the potentiometer.
Fit the sensor with a light turning movement and attach it with 2 bolts (M4X14), tightening torque 1.7Nm + 0.2 Nm. Figure 9.
After linkage is re-assembled run the intake manifold runner flap adaption in Guided Functions.
