Preparing to Work on Headlamps

HID Headlamps

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.

• Adjust the headlamps after performing any work that could have affected their adjustment.

Preparing to Work on Headlamps

Depending on the engine version, access to the headlamp bulbs could be obstructed. If necessary, additional steps must be performed.

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir, Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil extractor (V.A.G 1782)

Procedure

- Use (V.A.G 1782) to draw off power steering hydraulic fluid from reservoir.

• Place a rag under reservoir for power steering to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.

- Remove power steering reservoir.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Top up power steering fluid and bleed steering system.

Upper Section of Air Filter Housing, Removing, with 8-Cylinder Engine

Procedure





- Detach air hose - 2 - at air cleaner housing.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 3 -.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and detach top right section of air cleaner housing.

- Remove connecting hose - 1 -.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• Secure all hose connections using standard hose clamps.

Left Air Filter Housing, Removing, with 12-Cylinder Engine

Procedure





- Unplug connector - 3 - for mass air flow (MAF) sensor 2 (G246).

- Detach air hose - 2 - from air intake hose.

- Detach air hose - 1 - at intake manifold.

- Remove screws - arrows -.

- Remove upper section of left air cleaner housing.

- Remove air duct - 1 -.





- Remove screws - arrows -.

- Remove lower section of left air cleaner housing.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• Secure all hose connections using standard hose clamps.

Right Air Filter Housing, Removing, with 12-Cylinder Engine

Procedure





- Unplug connector - 1 - for mass air flow (MAF) sensor (G70).

- Detach air hose - 4 - at intake manifold.

- Detach bracket for electrical connectors - 2 - and - 3 - at top section of air cleaner housing.

- Remove screws - arrows -.

- Remove right upper section of air filter housing.

- Remove air duct - 1 -.





- Remove screws - arrows -.

- Remove lower section of right air cleaner housing.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• Secure all hose connections using standard hose clamps.
