Adaptation Procedure In Various Adaptation Channels
NOTE:
- Only an outline of "Adaptation" function is given. When implementing adaptation by way of "Guided Fault-Finding" function, information is given on functions to be altered "Guided Fault-Finding" function of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051.
- Certain adaptation channels are not provided on operating and display units installed at start of production. These functions can therefore not be altered.
- Check DTC memory of Climatronic Control Module J255 (and Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265) Check DTC Memory (Function 02) and eliminate any DTCs displayed.
- Check coding of Climatronic Control Module J255 for vehicle-specific optional equipment and correct if necessary Climatronic Control Module J255, Coding (Function 07) and "Guided Fault-Finding" function of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051.
- With ignition off, connect Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A with Diagnostic Cable - 3 meter VAS 5051/5A to 16- pin diagnostic socket in vehicle and use address word "08" (or "28") to select air conditioner/heater electronics or "rear AC operating element".
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- Select function "10 - Adaptation" for appropriate Climatronic Control Module J255 or Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265.
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- Prompt for entering channel number appears in display zone - 1 - .
- Input keypad appears in display zone - 2 - .
- Use input keypad to enter desired channel number in display zone - 2 - and Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265, Adaptation (list of adaptation channels) and confirm by touching Q key.
NOTE:
- Possible causes if display zone - 1 - indicates "Function unknown or cannot be implemented at present":
- Control module adaptation not performed as specified and in full
- Malfunction on convenience data bus
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- Display zone - 1 - indicates "Channel X reading and testing".
- Currently set value for this function appears in area - 2 - .
- Area - 3 - displays bar with code number for currently valid setting.
- Bar can be used to alter setting within specified limits.
NOTE:
- Code numbers entered via bar which are not within specified limits are displayed but not implemented.
- If code number entered via bar is too high or too low, display is automatically reset.
- New value set for this adaptation channel appears in area - 2 - .
Entry can also be made by way of keypad.
- Touch key - 4 - (for entry via keypad).
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- Display zone - 1 - indicates "Enter adaptation value: 0....XXXXX".
- Input keypad appears in display zone - 2 - .
- Use input keypad in display zone to enter desired value for this adaptation channel and Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265, Adaptation (list of adaptation channels for Climatronic Control Module J255 or Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265) for re-adaptation of Climatronic Control Module J255 (or Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265).
NOTE:
- Code numbers entered via keypad which are not within specified limits are displayed but not implemented.
- If code number entered via keypad is too high or too low, display is automatically reset
- Code number entered appears in area - 2 - .
- Confirm entry by touching "Q key".
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- New value for this adaptation channel appears in area - 2 - .
- Code number entered appears above bar in area - 3 - .
- Store entry by touching key - 5 - .
Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:
- Display zone - 1 - indicates "Store channel X".
- New value for this adaptation channel appears in area - 2 - .
- Original and new code number for this adaptation channel appear in area - 3 - .
- Adopt and store entry by touching key - 4 - .
- Display zone - 1 - indicates "Store channel X, value 0.....XXXX stored".
NOTE:
- Code numbers entered which are not within specified limits are displayed but not implemented.
- If code number entered is too high or too low, display is automatically reset.
- Touch key to return to selection program.
- Terminate self-diagnosis Automatic Climate Control System and switch off ignition.
- Check function of new adaptation entered.
