Hood





1 - Hood

• Removing

• Disconnect electrical connections.

• Disconnect line to windshield washer system and unclip line.

• Second person is required to support and lift hood.

• Remove gas-filled strut - 3 - from hood - 1 - => [ Gas Strut, Removing ].

• Loosen upper nut - 4 - on lid hinge only, remove the lower.

• Remove hood.

• Installing

• Install in reverse order of removal.

• Adjusting:

• Align hood - 1 - between fenders.

• Adjust height of hood at hood lock. Refer to => [ Hood Lock ] Hood Lock.

• Hood can be adjusted for height relative to fenders by adjusting buffer stops => [ Hood hinge ].

• Panel gap dimensions, refer to => [ Panel Gap Dimensions ] Adjustments

2 - Hood Hinge

• To remove, hood - 1 - must be removed or propped up securely.

• Removal, refer to => [ Hood hinge ].

3 - Gas Strut

• Removal, refer to => [ Gas Strut, Removing ]

• Press the gas-filled strut onto the ball stud.

• Install with tube end of strut at rear lid.

4 - Ball Head Pin

• 10 Nm

5 - Screw

• 15 Nm

6 - Nut

• 15 Nm

Gas Strut, Removing





Removal

- Support hood or secure it from falling down.

- Using a small screwdriver, slightly lift securing spring - arrow - and pull of gas-filled strut - 1 - from ball stud.

- Also at lower ball stud

Installing

- To install, press gas-filled strut onto ball stud and engage.

- Install with tube end of strut at body.

Gas Strut, Venting





- Clamp area x of the gas strut in the vise, area - x - = 50 mm.

- Using saw, cut into cylindrical part of strut at point within first third of cylinder's length (measured from cover edge at piston rod end of cylinder).

CAUTION!
Clamp only within this area, otherwise accident could occur!

• Always wear eye protection when sawing. Also, place a cloth over the area to absorb any oil squirting out.

Hood hinge





- When removing, hood must be removed or propped up securely.

- To remove, remove bolts - 3 - and - 2 -.

- When installing, tighten bolts and nuts to 25 Nm.

Catch





- To remove, unscrew nuts - 3 - and remove catch - 2 - from hood - 1 -.

- When installing, tighten nuts to 11 Nm.
