Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control
The distance regulation sensor and distance regulation control module (J428) are installed in one housing. If the sensor/control module is faulty, the entire unit must be replaced.
In the following description, the sensor/control module unit is identified as the "sensor".
The sensor radar cover is located behind the front bumper cover and is made of material that can be penetrated by radar. All changes such as paint applied later, adhesive applied, etc. can cause malfunctions.
Malfunctions can also occur due to contamination on the sensor. Remove the decorative grille or radiator grille in front of the sensor according to the repair information instructions and clean the inside of the grilled and the sensor.
Before performing Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) adjustment, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory must be interrogated and malfunctions corrected.
"Measured value block 2" of the adaptive cruise control module indicates if the sensor is only slightly misaligned. If must be calibrated if it is misaligned by 0.5°.
The ACC adjustment may only be set using a VW/Audi approved wheel alignment tester and adjustment device!
A correct adjustment is required for perfect ACC function.
• A new adjustment is necessary if:
• Rear suspension toe is adjusted.
• The complete radar sensor is replaced.
• Crossmember for the bumper is loosened or adjusted.
• There is damage on the front end.
• The misalignment is greater than 0.5°.
