Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Support tool (3369)

Removing

- Activate the vehicle lifting mode.

- Remove both front wheels.

Secure brake discs using wheel bolts.

- Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 - and remove front noise insulation.





- Remove front part of wheel housing liner at left and right front.

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Disconnect harness connector - 2 - and free up the wiring.





- Remove bolts - 1 -.

- Detach air ducting for auxiliary cooler.

CAUTION!
The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened.

Do not bend or stretch lines or hoses as A/C compressor and/or refrigerant lines/hoses may be damaged.

- Unclip refrigerant line at lock carrier - arrow -.





- Free up hood release cable at left front of lock carrier.

- In left and right wheel housing, remove nut - 1 - and bolt - 2 - for lock carrier.





- Remove bolts - 1 to 5 - on both sides of the vehicle.





First, remove one bolt from left and right side and mark the installed position of the lock carrier in the bolt hole using a felt tip marker.

- Remove bolts from sleeves of the special tool support tool (3369).





- Install bolts from support tool (3369) at the left and right in the upper mounting holes in the impact absorber.

- Pull off hood seal on both fenders.





- Remove one bolt - arrow - at top of lock carrier at left and right.

- Carefully pull lock carrier toward front.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Install lock carrier with attachments

- Install front bumper cover.

- Deactivate vehicle lifting mode.
