A/C Compressor


Compressor from Bracket, 12 Cylinder

Compressor driven by a ribbed belt

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to Diameter 25 mm (3094)

Removing

- Discharge refrigerant circuit.

- Bring lock carrier into service position.

- Remove left front wheel.

Secure brake discs using wheel bolts.

Read notes for removal and installation, as well as commissioning of compressor. Refer to=> [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor

- Remove front part of wheel housing liner at front left.

- Use Hose Clamp (3094) to clamp vane pump return hose.





- Pull off return hose - 1 - from vane pump.

Ignore - item 2 -.

- Press release buttons and pull both air guide hoses - arrows - at bottom off lower left air filter housing.





- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 3 - for Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor 2 (G246).





- Disconnect hose - 2 - from air guide hose.

- Disconnect air guide hose - 1 - at intake manifold.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove left upper section of air filter housing.

- Remove air duct - 1 -.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove left lower section of air filter housing.

Place a rag beneath hydraulic pipe to catch escaping hydraulic fluid.





- Remove hydraulic pressure pipe - 2 - at vane pump and put down on top of longitudinal member.

Ignore - item 1 -.

- Carefully remove engine cover upward starting at rear and in center - arrows 1 -.





- Then pull engine cover forward off intake manifold - arrows 2 -.

- Move tensioner in - direction of arrow - to release tension on ribbed belt.





- Remove ribbed belt from vane pump pulley, release tensioner.

Ribbed belt remains in position on other pulleys.

- Remove belt pulley for power steering vane pump - arrows -.





- Unscrew bolts - arrows - and remove vane pump.





- Remove bracket for vane pump - arrows -.





Do not bend or stretch lines or hoses as A/C compressor and refrigerant lines/hoses may be damaged.





- Disconnect refrigerant lines from A/C compressor - arrows -. Refer to=> [ Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting and Connecting from Compressor ] Removal and Replacement.

- Seal openings in A/C compressor.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.





- Unscrew bolts - arrows - and remove A/C compressor.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

Read notes for removal and installation, as well as commissioning of compressor. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor ] A/C Compressor

Replace seals and O-rings.

Note alignment bushings.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps used in series production. .

- Install vane pump.

- Install ribbed belt.

- Install lock carrier with attachments.

- Discharge and fill the refrigerant circuit.

- Check headlamp adjustment.

- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to => [ Operating A/C System after Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] Operating A/C System after Filling Refrigerant Circuit
