Removing
- Bring lock carrier into service position => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position.
- Carefully pull the engine cover at the rear and middle upward and off - arrows 1 -.
- Then, pull the engine cover forward and off from intake manifold - arrows 2 -.
• Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.
- To relieve tension on the ribbed belt, pivot the tensioner in direction of - arrow -, using a 30 mm box-end wrench.
- Remove ribbed belt and release tensioning device.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- First place the ribbed belt onto the vibration damper belt pulley, then onto the remaining belt pulleys, and finally onto the tensioning roller.
• When installing the ribbed belt, make sure it is seated correctly on the pulleys.
- After changing any of the following components, the alignment of the power steering pump and air conditioning compressor belt pulleys must be checked => [ Power Steering Pump Belt Pulley and Air Conditioning Compressor Belt Pulley, Checking Alignment ] Testing and Inspection.
• Power-steering pump
• Bracket for power steering pump
• A/C Compressor
• Bracket for air conditioning compressor
• Oil pan (upper section)
- Install lock carrier with attachments
- Install front bumper cover.
- Deactivate vehicle lifting mode.
- Start engine and check belt running.
