Relay and Fuse Carrier in Plenum Chamber E-Box

Removing

All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery.

- Remove rubber seal - 1 - on plenum chamber covers.





- Remove plenum chamber covers.

- Remove dust and pollen filter.

Cover air duct at air conditioner housing with clean cloth to stop anything falling in.

- Remove wiper arms. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Removal and Replacement.

- Remove the bolts at the left and right - arrows - for the cowl panel grille - 1 -.





CAUTION!
The cowl panel trim could be damaged.

Coat the transition between the windshield and cowl panel trim with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim - 1 - vertically out of the retainer on the windshield beginning at the edge of the window.

- Carefully remove the cowl grille from the locking mechanism on the windshield.

- Remove screws - arrows -.





- Detach both retainers and engine control module from plenum chamber electronics box.

- Set aside Engine Control Module (ECM) with the connectors still connected.

- Turn Air Quality Sensor (G238) - item 1 - counter-clockwise 90° and remove sensor from mount.





- Release the retaining clips - arrows -.

- Open plenum chamber electronics box cover slightly and pull off to front.

- Release fasteners - arrows - and lift off auxiliary relay carrier in electronics box.





Disregard item - 1 -.

- Unclip plug-in sockets for multi-pin connectors.

Precise assignment of relay and fuse box in plenum chamber electronics box can be seen from appropriate wiring diagram.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Re-attach all cable ties at the same locations when re-installing.

- Connect battery. Refer to=> [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery.

- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
