High-Intensity Gas Discharge Headlamp Ignition Coil, Removing And Installing

CAUTION: Always disconnect battery ground strap before working on gas-discharge headlight components marked with yellow high-voltage symbols.

Removing

- Activate vehicle lift mode.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable.
- Remove appropriate front wheel.
- Remove appropriate front wheel housing liner.







- Loosen locking bolt - 1 - a few turns.
- Release retainer tabs - arrows - and detach low beam housing cover from headlight housing.







- Disconnect connector - 1 - at ignition coil for gas-discharge lamp.
- Turn ignition coil - 2 - for gas-discharge lamp counter-clockwise - arrow - and detach.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

NOTE: Ignition coil must be installed before attaching connector.







- Check whether recess in housing of ignition coil for gas-discharge lamp and recess in contact ring exactly coincide - arrows -.
- Position ignition coil for gas-discharge lamp at headlight and turn clockwise as far as it will go.
- Ignition coil must be easily turned.
- Arrow on housing faces upwards
- Connect harness connector.
- Close housing cover and secure with screw.
- Install front wheel housing liner.
- Connect battery. Required actions.
- Deactivate vehicle lift mode.
