Battery, Preparing for Charging

Procedure


Risk of explosion on discharged battery with "visual indicator".

• If the "visual indicator" has no color or is lamp yellow, the battery may not be tested or charged. Jump starting must not be used! There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting. The battery must be replaced.

Before the battery charger can be connected, the following preparations are necessary:

• It is recommended that the battery is charged when installed and connected. Only in this way it is guaranteed that the charge current is included in the capacity of the Energy Management Control Module (J644).

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.





- Remove right luggage compartment side trim cover - arrows -.

• Leave battery cover in position.

- Clamp the red charging clamp "+" - item 2 - on the battery charger to the "+" terminal clamp.





- Clamp the black charging clamp "-" - item 1 - on the battery charger to the ground pin on the energy management control module.

- Connect battery charger electrical system connector and switch charger on.

- Keep lid open while charging.
