Windshield Assembly Overview
• On vehicles equipped with lane assist, the camera must be recalibrated if the windshield has been replaced.
1 - Windshield
• Removal, refer to => [ Windshield ] Flush-Bonded Windows.
• Distance to roof dimension - a - = 3 mm" ±.5mm
• Align distance at sides.
2 - Adhesive Sealing Material
• Observe curing times.
• Note varying spacing dimensions to window edge:
• Dimension - b - = 18 mm±2mm
• Dimension - c - = 8 mm±2mm
• Dimension - d - = 20 mm±2mm
3 - Cover Profile
• Can be replaced, refer to => [ Windshield Cover Profile ] Flush-Bonded Windows.
4 - Molding
• Is supplied with the windshield
• If damaged, pull off molding frame and remove adhesive residue using window scraper.
• Clean adhesion area with D 009 401 04 and prime with D 009 200 02.
• Press new molding frame onto window edge centered.
5 - Plenum Chamber Cover
• Removal, refer to => [ Plenum Chamber Cover, Removing and Installing ]
• For new replacement windows, a protective piping is located in the retaining strip, which must be pulled off before installing plenum chamber cover => [ Removing Protective Piping for Grip Channel ].
• Press into fastening strip only after window adhesive curing time has elapsed.
6 - Drip Rail
• Press into clips to stop only after the minimum curing time for the adhesive.
• When pressing in drip rail, make sure sealing lip lies flat against windshield and does not slip behind edge of windshield.
7 - Retaining Clip
• Press drip rail in to stop of clip.
Plenum Chamber Cover, Removing and Installing
- Remove the wiper.
- Pull seal - 4 - upward and remove.
- Pull front plenum chamber cover - 3 - toward front out of plenum chamber cover - 1 -.
- Pull plenum chamber cover starting at side - arrow - in steps upward from grip channel of windshield - 2 -.
Removing Protective Piping for Grip Channel
- Pull off protective piping from grip channel only after installing window.
- Before installing plenum chamber cover, protective piping - 1 - must be pulled out of grip channel - 2 - of windshield - 3 -.
