Keyless Starting System: Service and Repair
Access/Start Authorization System
Driver/Passenger Door Handle Switch
Removing
- Remove outside door handle.
- Remove mounting bracket.
- Fold operating lever - 3 - to side - arrow A - and carefully release retaining clips - 2,4, 5 -.
- Slide outside door handle switch off mounting bracket in - direction of arrow B -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install mounting bracket.
- Install outside door handle.
Left/Right Rear Door Handle Switch
Removing
- Remove outside door handle.
- Remove mounting bracket.
- Fold operating lever - 3 - to side - arrow A - and carefully release retaining clips - 2,4, 5 -.
- Slide rear outside door handle switch off mounting bracket in - direction of arrow B -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install mounting bracket.
- Install outside door handle.
Interior Access/Start Authorization Antenna 1,
Removing
- Position selector lever in "N" position.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Unclip mounting frame for selector lever boot - 1 - from center console and lift it upward - arrows -.
- Fold selector lever boot upward.
- Release retaining spring - 2 - and remove Selector Lever Transmission Range (TR) Position Display (Y26) - item 1 - upward.
- Unplug connector.
Vehicles without CD changer in center console storage compartment:
- Using a screwdriver - 2 -, pry center console storage compartment - 1 - out in - direction of arrow -.
- Reach through center console storage compartment opening and press installation frame - 1 - for Multimedia Control Head (E380) up - arrow -.
Vehicles with CD changer in center console storage compartment:
- Reach through selector lever boot opening and press installation frame - 1 - for Multimedia Control Head (E380) up - arrow -.
All Vehicles
- Unplug connectors.
- Fold shifter housing insulation - 3 - up - arrow -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 -.
- Remove Interior Access/Start Authorization Antenna 1 (R138) - item 5 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order.
Tightening Specifications
Driver Access/Start Authorization Antenna
Removing
- Remove left rear door trim.
- Remove insulation mat - 2 - in front area of door trim.
- Unscrew bolts - arrows - and remove Driver's Access/Start Authorization Antenna (R134) - item 1 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install left rear door trim.
Tightening Specifications
Front Passenger Access/Start Authorization Antenna
Removing
- Remove right rear door trim.
- Remove insulation mat - 1 - in front area of door trim.
- Unscrew bolts - arrows - and remove Front Passenger's Access/Start Authorization Antenna (R135) - item 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install right rear door trim.
Tightening Specifications
Luggage Compartment Access/Start Authorization Antenna
Removing
- Fold luggage compartment flood - 1 - up.
- Remove storage compartment.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.
- Unscrew bolts - arrows - and remove Luggage Compartment Access/Start Authorization Antenna (R137) - item 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order.
Tightening Specifications
Keyless Access Authorization Antenna Reader
Removing
4-/5-seater:
- Remove luggage compartment left and right side trim.
- Remove luggage compartment cargo floor - 1 - upward - arrows -.
6-/7-seater:
- Remove luggage compartment right side trim.
- Remove luggage compartment cargo floor support - 1 - upward - arrows -.
Vehicles with control module bracket:
- Release retaining clips - arrows - and pivot Towing Recognition Control Module (J345) - item 1 - out of retaining frame.
- Disconnect electrical connectors - 2 - and - 3 -.
- Remove Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module (J401)
- Remove air suspension.
- Remove bolt - 4 - and nuts - 2 - and - 6 -.
- Using a long wrench - 5 -, remove nut - 1 - at rear of control module bracket - 3 -.
- Remove control module bracket.
All Vehicles
- Detach relays or control modules and then unclip appropriate plug-in socket.
- Release retaining clips - arrows - and press fuse holders - 1, 2, 4 - back out of relay and fuse carrier.
- Remove nuts - 3 - and - 5 - and remove relay and fuse carrier.
Vehicles without bracket for control modules:
- Remove nut - 6 -.
All Vehicles
- Remove nut - 4 - and remove retaining frame - 5 - slightly to side.
- If present, remove screws - 1 - and - 2 - and remove Telephone Amplifier (R86) - item 3 -.
- Remove retaining frame with control modules and lay it aside with electrical wiring connected.
- Release retaining clips - arrows - and remove Keyless Access Authorization Antenna Reader (J723) - item 1 - from retaining frame.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Install control module retaining frame.
- Install relay and fuse carrier in luggage compartment.
- Install luggage compartment side trim.
