Body Controls - Erroneous DTC 02217/007 in Door Modules
66 08 132014214/2
December 2, 2008.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 66 number 07-01 dated February 5, 2007 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
66 Outside rear view mirror function (DTC 02117/007 in front door control modules)
Condition
DTC 02117/007 in both left (J386) and right (J387) door control modules after the mirror switch in the driver's door was replaced. All mirror functions except the folding option will operate normally if a mirror switch for vehicles with the folding function (PR code 6XL) is installed.
The performance of the mirror's sight and reflection functions is not compromised.
Technical Background
Audi Q7 without the outside mirror folding option (PR code 6XD) are equipped with a mirror switch that does not allow the switch to be rotated 360 degrees; therefore, the mirror switch cannot be switched to the normally used switch position for the folding function. All replacement mirror switches come with the mirror folding option and therefore allow the 360 degrees rotating switch function (PR code 6XL). Once the switch is turned to the mirror folding position, the door module will generate an erroneous DTC 02217/007 entry in both front door control modules.
Production Solution
No solution available.
Service
Figure 1:
Check vehicle equipment list prior to any repairs if DTC 02117/007 is stored in both front door control modules. Ignore these DTC entries if the vehicle is not equipped with folding mirror option (PR code 6XD).
Tip: All mirror functions except the folding option will operate normally if a mirror switch for vehicles with the folding function (PR code 6XL) is installed.
