Parking Brake Shoes
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Brake spring pliers
• Socket XZN 16 (T10198)
Removing
- Remove wheels.
If brake pads are ceramics, wheel must not fall on brake disc, otherwise it will be irreparably damaged. To remove/install wheel, insert two assembly pins in wheel bolt mount. The long assembly pin is in the upper position.
- Remove brake pads.
• Brembo 17" and 18", refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
• 18" Plus, refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
- Pull wheel speed sensor wire out of bracket at brake caliper.
- Press the brake pistons back using the (T10145) with the brake pads still installed.
• When loosening the brake caliper, do not loosen the brake hose and brake line.
- Loosen and remove the brake caliper bolts - 20 - from the stub axle carrier.
- Pull the brake caliper with the brake pads installed carefully over the brake disc and remove it.
- Secure the brake caliper housing with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not stress or damage the brake hose.
- Remove locking bolt - arrow - for adjustment nut of parking brake.
• Not all models have the sealing plug.
• Set back parking brake.
- Rotate the adjustment nut - A - against the pull spring, - B - so that the air gap increases and the brake disc can turn freely.
- Remove the brake drum fitting bolt.
- Remove brake disc/brake drum.
Be very careful when handling the ceramic brake disc. It cannot be repaired if it gets damaged.
- Disengage the parking brake cable from the spreader.
• Use a commercially available brake spring pliers, for example, HAZET Number 797, to disengage and engage the tension spring.
- Disengage the tension spring from the adjusting nut using brake spring pliers - arrow -.

• It is the left tension spring on the right brake and the right tension spring on the left brake.
- Remove the spring pins and the pressure springs.
- Remove the brake shoe package wit the second tension spring and spreader.
Installing
• Replace the brake caliper bolts.
Assemble the brake shoe package before installing it with the spreader and tension spring.
Further installation is in the reverse sequence to removal.
• Use a commercially available brake spring pliers, for example, HAZET Number 797, to engage the tension spring.
Engage the tension spring using brake spring pliers - arrow -.

- Attach the parking brake cable in the spreader.

• Replace bolts.
- Carefully place the brake caliper over the brake disc.
- Attach the brake caliper to the stub axle carrier and tighten the bolts - 20 -, ceramic brakes, to 150 Nm + 90° turn.
After replacing the brake shoes, adjust the parking brake (basic setting) before driving. Refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting Basic Setting ] Parking Brake, Adjusting Basic Setting
