Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair






Air Filter Housing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pry lever (80 - 200)

Silicon-free lubricant

Removing

- Remove air filter insert => [ Air Filter Element ] Air Filter Element.

- Remove right wheel housing liner.

- Remove windshield washer fluid reservoir filler tubes - 2 -.





- Remove bolt - 1 -.

- Free up electrical wiring harness at top of lower part of air filter housing.

- Pry off air guide - 2 - from lower part of air filter housing - 1 - beginning at wheel housing side using pry lever (80 - 200).





- Remove lower part of air filter housing upward.

Installing

Tightening specifications => [ Air Filter, Assembly Overview ] Air Filter, Assembly Overview.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Coat connecting pieces with silicone-free lubricant and press air duct on until it engages, using pry lever (80 - 200) if necessary.

Air filter housing must always be clean.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

Note the following when blowing out air filter housing with compressed air: To prevent malfunctions, cover critical air flow engine components such as Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, air duct pipes etc. with a clean cloth.

- Blow out water drain (small hole in lower part of air filter housing) with compressed air.

- Clean air filter housing (upper and lower part) of salt residue, dirt or leaves (by extracting).

- Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and air guide hose (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt and leaves.

- Check air duct from lock carrier to air filter housing for dirt and leaves.

- When installing, center air filter insert in mount in lower part of air filter housing.

- Carefully position upper part of air filter housing on lower part without much force without positioning upper part crooked on filter insert (note air filter insert sealing lips).
